7 killed after covered van collides with Leguna in Cox’s Bazar

At least seven people were killed as a Leguna collided with a covered van in Chakaria upazila of Cox's Bazar this evening.

The passenger-carrying Leguna skidded off the road and fell into a ditch after a head-on collision with the van at Burir Dokan Point in North Harbang area around 6:00pm, said Md Anisur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Chiringa Highway Police Outpost.

The OC, however, said the number of dead has not been confirmed yet.

Meanwhile, an on-duty doctor of Chakaria Upazila Health Complex told our Cox's Bazar correspondent that seven people were declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Four injured were admitted to the hospital. Two were later shifted to Chattagram Medical College Hospital in critical condition, he said.

Four of the deceased have been identified. They are Badiul Alam, 50, Al Amin, 48, Firoz Ahmad, 32, and Leguna driver Minar Uddin, 23.
