Cattle traders robbed of Tk 3 lakh

A Pabna-bound bus from Narayanganj was stopped near Shanir Akhra at around 7:45am by a gang of robbers who got into the bus claiming themselves as passengers, sources said.

Showing sharp weapons to the bus passengers, mostly cattle traders, the assailants looted a total of Tk 2.99 lakh from three of the traders and hurriedly fled away.

The passengers then informed the local law enforcers of the incident and brought the bus back to Narayanganj where police seized the vehicle and arrested the helper and driver.

The driver and helper stopped the bus in the middle of the highway and let the robbers get in, despite the passengers' reluctance, the passengers complained.

Sohel, one of the cattle traders, said they were going to Pabna to buy cattle for the upcoming Eid.
