Dhaka University Teachers' Association (Duta) in a statement yesterday once again urged President/Chief Adviser Iajuddin Ahmed to hand over the charge of the chief adviser to a non-partisan figure for the sake of holding a free and fair election.

In the statement signed by Duta President Prof Sharif Ullah Bhuiyan and its General Secretary Prof Mohammad Akhtaruzzaman, they said that being his former colleagues, they are ashamed of his role as president and chief adviser as well.

"The way he is taking controversial decisions favoring a particular political party is frustrating for teachers' community", the statement read.

"Ignoring the expectation of mass people and other advisers, his unilateral decisions and his midnight speeches have created non-confidence among the political parties", the teachers said.
