'Honour peacekeepers in country'

Coalition of Local NGO's, Bangladesh (CLNB) at a rally in the city yesterday demanded state recognition and national award of 71 soldiers, who sacrificed their lives during serving at the United Nations (UN) peacekeeping missions abroad, says a press release.

The organisation also submitted a memorandum to the president/chief adviser.

In the memorandum, CLNB said peacekeeping mission of Bangladesh achieved international awards, including Dag Hammarskjold award of the UN, and national awards of several countries. But they did not get any national award in their own country.

CLNB Chairman Harunur Rashid signed the memorandum.
