BKSJL faction joins 4-patry

Bangladesh Krishak Sramik Janata League (BKSJL) was formed by breakaways from the Awami League under the leadership of Bangabir Kader Siddiqui and Fazlur Rahman some years back.

Addressing a joining function at her Hawa Bhaban office in the city yesterday, Khaleda said AL knows well that there is no scope in the constitution for deferring election beyond the tenure of the caretaker government tenure. But that party is pressing for deferring election date, sensing that they have "no chances of winning in the upcoming elections".

Khaleda contended that the AL had participated in all elections in the past, including elections in the regimes of Ershad, Ayub and Yahia.

She, however, said the party (AL) wants to come to election but the components of the 14-party alliance oppose them as those components' leaders "have no chance to come to the Jatiya Sangsad".

Welcoming the BKSJL general secretary, Khaleda opined that the 4-party alliance now turned into 5-party alliance and hoped that the BKSJL GS would work for the alliance for winning the next general election.

The BKSJL general secretary along with some central leaders and some of party's Kishoreganj district unit formally joined the 4-party alliance presenting bouquet to the BNP chairperson and alliance leader, Khaleda Zia, at the Hawa Bhaban function.
