They also demanded that the responsibility of market management should be handed over to the elected representatives of Rampura Madina Shopping Complex Business Development Committee.

The Committee placed their demands at a press conference at the Bangladesh Crime Reporters Association in the city.

Reading out a written statement, Mohammad Nazrul Islam, president of the Committee, alleged that Arzan Mollah forcibly locked the market with the help of his sons and their hoodlums on November 2.

Moreover, Arzan Mollah filed fake cases against the traders of the market, he added.

Md Mohiuddin Mohan, vice president, and Kamal Hossain, general secretary, of the Committee, also spoke at the press conference.

The speakers alleged that Arzan Mollah increases service charge now and then out of his whim and collects toll on different pretexts.

They said they lodged complaints with Md Akkel Ali, local ward commissioner (Ward No. 22) and the ward commissioner served three notices on Arzan Mollah.

However, Arzan Mollah did not appear before the ward commissioner. As a result, the ward commissioner, after investigation, gave his verdict against Arzan Mollah accusing him of deception and torture on the traders.

Arzan Mollah could not be contacted after several attempts to call over his cell phone and land phone at his house.
