Ctg mayor threatens indefinite hartal
City Mayor and Coordinator of Chittagong Divisional 14-party opposition combine ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury at a rally here threatened to enforce indefinite hartal in the port city from October 28 if the ruling party does not hand over power in time.
He was addressing a gathering on the Janatar Mancha on Shaheed Minar premises yesterday afternoon.
Mohiuddin also said the people will not accept any election without reform in the caretaker government system and the Election Commission.
When contacted about the call of indefinite strike, Assistant Personal Secretary (APS) of city mayor Hasan Mahmud Shamsher, however, said they would take the final decision in consultation with central 14-party leaders.
ÂYou may take it rather as an ultimatum, he told this correspondent last night.
