4 killed in road accidents

Our Correspondent from Chittagong: An unidentified woman was killed and another injured in separate road accidents in Chittagong yesterday and Friday night.

Sources said an unidentified woman aged about 40 was killed when a bus ran over her while she was walking along the road at Bahodderhat intersection at around 11:30pm on Friday.

The woman was rushed to the Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) where the on- duty doctor declared her dead.

Meanwhile, a bus knocked a rickshaw at Kazir Dewri intersection at around 8:30am yesterday, leaving the rickshaw passenger injured.

The injured identified as Babla Bishwas was rushed to CMCH in a critical condition.

Police seized the bus and a case was filed in this connection.

Our Correspondent from Satkhira adds: One person was killed in a road accident yesterday when a pick-up hit a motorcycle near Sadpur bridge in Kaliganj upazila on Satkhira- Kaliganj road.

The deceased was identified as Babu, 25 son of Shahar Ali Sardar of village Mathureshpur in Kaliganj upazila.

Quoting local people police said the accident occurred when a pick-up hit Babu's motorcycle while he was going to Kaliganj, leaving him dead on the spot.

Our Correspondent from Sirajganj adds: One person was run over by a speeding truck at Ghurka Beltola in Sirajganj.

The victim was identified as Mahmudul Haque, 22, son of Mozammel Haque of Muradpur village of the Raiganj upazila.

Police and witnesses said the truck run over Mahmudul Haque at around 6.30pm when he was crossing the road.

Police sent the body to Sadar hospital morgue for autopsy.

A case was filed with Solonga Police Station in this connection.

Our Correspondent from Barisal reports: A pedestrian was crushed under the wheels of microbus yesterday near Munshibari of Vurghata on Barisal-Dhaka highway under Gournadi police station.

The dead was identified as Shipon Gharami, 22.

Police sent the dead body to Barisal morgue for autopsy.
