Dhaka supports international convention on terrorism

"Bangladesh condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations," he said in a debate on "Measure to eliminate international terrorism" in the Legal Committee (Sixth) of the UN General Assembly in New York on Wednesday, according to a message received here yesterday.

The Bangladesh ambassador criticised those who attempt to link terrorism with one religion, Islam. "This is not only unfair, but also imprudent. It ignores Islam's great contribution to human civilisation and culture, and only increases the divide separating nations and people", he said.

He told delegations that in order to foster international understanding, the Bangladesh delegation each year introduces a resolution on a "Culture of Peace" in the General Assembly. "We will also do so this year, and will hope for its unanimous adoption", he added.
