American Corner gains popularity

The first of its kind in South Asia, the centre was inaugurated on January 22, 2003.

The American Corner-Chittagong has an impressive collection of books, encyclopedias, newspapers, magazines, pamphlets, videos and CD-ROMs that focus on the constitution, policies, culture, literature, history, politics, economics and other social issues of the United States. Besides, students interested in studying in the US will also find an index of all American colleges and universities along with extensive information on each institution. Information regarding TOEFL, SAT and GRE are also available.

The centre also provides high-speed broadband internet connection and photocopying services. It is open to anyone over 16 years of age but its amenities are only accessible to the members. Membership charge is Tk. 200 for the general public and Tk 150 for IUB students for a period of one year.

The Corner is open from Sunday to Thursday from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm, except on government holidays.
