8 Bangladeshi fishermen held by Indian police

Indian police arrested eight Bangladeshi fishermen on December 1 from the Sundarbans on charge of trespassing.

The arrested fishermen hailing from Chittagong and Noakhali districts were identified as Afsar Mandol, Lokman Mistry, Noor Hossain, Moyeedul Islam, Mohammod Ismail, Nazimuddin, Noor Nabi, and Abu Taher. All of them are in their early 30s.

According to a report published in the Dainik Ajkaal of Kolkata on December 3, a magistrate of Diamon Herbour court sent the Bangladeshi fishermen to Jail when they were produced there by police showing them arrested under section 14 of Indian Foreigners' Act.
