JS body decides to extend validity period

The parliamentary standing committee on the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications decided to extend the validity period of pre-paid mobile phone card from 21 days to 30 days.

The decision was taken at a meeting of No. 1 sub-committee of the parliamentary body on Sunday, with its convenor Prof Kazi Golam Morshed in the chair. Members of the sub-committee Syed Mehedi Ahmed Rumi and Abul Hossain Khan were present.

They discussed ways and means to reduce charges of mobile phone call and connection. The issue related to interconnection between mobile and land phones also came up for discussion.

The members asked the authorities to take immediate steps for speedy implementation of a decision to open up the Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) for the operators.

Chairman of BTRC Syed Marghub Murshed and representatives of all private mobile operators also attended the meeting.
