Information minister tells pvt TV channels

Information Minister Shamsul Islam yesterday called on the private television channels to give importance to protecting the national interest while presenting news.

Talking to the heads of three private TV channels at his secretariat office, the minister told them to present news in such a way that would brighten the image of the country.

The TV channel chiefs assured the minister that they would be attentive in protecting the interest of the nation while disseminating news.

Shamsul Islam also discussed participation of the private TV channels in the SAARC conference to be held in Dhaka in January.

The heads of the private channels also requested the minister to hold meetings with them regularly.

The meeting was attended by information secretary AMM Nasiruddin, NTV Managing Director Enayetur Rahman, ATN Chief Advisor Saiful Bari and Channel-i Managing Director Faridur Reza Sagar.
