Abducted trader, Krishak League leader rescued
Kushtia police rescued Masud Uddin Seikh, 36, convenor of Mirpur upazila Krishak League from Bahalbaria char.
Police said a criminal group kidnapped Masud on Wednesday evening when he was returning home riding a motorcycle at Nawapara from Bahalbaria.
The masked gang picked him up at gunpoint along with his motorcycle.
The gang later demanded TK 5 lakh in toll from Masud's elder brother Anwar over cellphone.
The victim's family instantly sought the police help.
Being tipped off by an unidentified man, police rescued him from Bahalbaria char.
His eyes were blindfolded and hands and legs tied up with cord.
Meanwhile, Chuadanga police rescued Mokhlesur Rahman, 35, a
trader, from a house at Damurhuda upazila.
They also arrested two abductors Sahabul, 25, son of Ayub Ali, and Altaf Hossain, 40.
The gang belonging to an outlawed party stormed into his house at village
Porkestapur in Alamdanga upazila on August 15 and picked him at gunpoint.
Later, they demanded TK 3 lakh in ransom, family sources said.
Being tipped off by the neighbours, the police rescued him.
