Mayor urges KDA to place three areas under KCC

Staff Correspondent, Khulna
Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Mayor Shaikh Tayebur Rahman has urged Khulna Development Authority (KDA) to handover Khulna Bus Terminal, Rupsha Natun Bazar and New Market to the corporation as early as possible.

The mayor said the prime minister sent a letter to the secretary of the housing and public works ministry on July 13 in this regard.

In a press release issued on August 7, Shaikh Tayebur blamed the KDA for creating obstruction in the beautification of Khulna Metropolitan City.

He also accused the KDA for adopting commercial outlook instead of making it a service-oriented institution.

While demanding the abolition of the KDA, the mayor said the handover of Bus Terminal, New Market and Natun Bazar would help increase the revenue income of the corporation in the face of its severe financial crisis.

Meanwhile, a KDA source has denied the receipt of any orders from the prime minister's office (PMO) in this regard.
