Relief activities continue

Different political parties and socio-cultural organisations yesterday continued their relief activities in flood-hit areas of the country.

Dhaka University authorities distributed 25500 packets of oral saline, 1900 pieces of water purifying tablets, 2200 packets of bread and molasses, 10 cartoons of medicine, and 400 packets of rice and pulses in Chandpur, Kurigram, Tongi, Ramganj, Laxmipur, Manik-ganj, Narshingdi, Narayanganj and around the capital in last two days.

Dhaka University Teachers' Association sent two teams for distributing relief in remote areas of Munshiganj and Manikganj districts.

Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), student wing of the ruling BNP, distributed relief materials among the 1200 flood victims in Narayanganj district. BNP's first Joint Secretary General Tareque Rahman was present on the occasion.

State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Mir Mohammad Nasiruddin distributed relief materials among the flood victims sheltered in the Haji Camp at Uttara in the city.

Tejgaon unit of the BNP distributed relief among the flood-affected people of Razabazar and Boubazar areas.

Communist Party of Bangladesh distributed relief materials among the flood victims at Rupganj upazila under Narayanganj and Ramganj upazila in Laxmipur districts.

Workers Party of Bangladesh distributed 2900 pieces of breads, 90 kilogram of molasses, 7000 packets of oral saline and water purification tablets among the flood victims at Gaibandha and Sirajganj districts including different parts of the capital.

Japan International Co-operation Agency Alumni Associa-tion distributed rice, pulses, potato, salt, match, candle, oral saline and medicine among the flood victims at Char Varenga and Zionpur in Manikganj district.

The health directorate sent life saving medicine in the flood-hit areas of Dhaka, Rangpur, Gaibandha, Sylhet, Comilla, Brahmanbaria, Laxmipur, Lalmonirhat, Chandpur, Bogra, Jhalakathi and Patuakhali districts.

Teams of Bangladesh Medical Association continued its treatment for sick people at 39 flood shelters at different parts of the city.

Major Gen (Retd) Subid Ali Bhuiyan distributed relief materials among the flood-affected people at different shelters at Daudkandi upazila.

Other organisations which distributed relief materials included Samajtantrik Dal of Bangladesh, Jatiya Oikya Mancha, Sammilita Sangskritik Jote, Democracywatch, Dhaka University Social Welfare Alumni Association, Shams Group, Bangladesh Chhatra Moitry, SA Paribahan, Bangladesh Green Party, Management Net, DU Help Centre for Flood Victims, Narayanganj district unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League and Sylhet Division Development Action Council.
