Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), student wing of main opposition Awami League (AL), held a rally in the city yesterday protesting the death threat to Leader of the Opposition in Parliament and AL President Sheikh Hasina and filing of graft case against her.

Addressing the rally at Muktangon, AL General Secretary Abdul Jalil criticised the prime minister for expressing her doubt over the death threat to Hasina.

He said the government is filing false cases against AL leaders and workers to suppress the anti-government movement.

About the reprint of country's liberation war document, the AL general secretary said, "After the killing of Bangabandhu, president Ziaur Rahman wrote in a article published in the Ittefaq that he announced the country's independence under the directive of Bangabandhu."

AL Joint Secretary Mukul Bose said the life of Hasina has to be protected by resisting the evil forces.

AL Organising Secretary Abdul Mannan wondered, "How a sector commander could be the proclaimer of the country's independence?"

BCL President Liakat Ali Shikdar and General Secretary Nazrul Islam Babu also spoke.
