Prof Kamal passes away

Professor Kamal Uddin, who was also the founder of the department of bio-chemistry at Dhaka University, was undergoing treatment in the Philippines capital of Manila, an official handout said.

His body will be brought back home by a Singapore Airlines aircraft tonight. He will be buried at Banani graveyard after namaz-e-janaza on Karzon Hall premises at 10.30 am on July 6.

Prof Kamal Uddin, brother-in-law of Education Minister Dr M Osman Farruk, left behind his wife, 2 daughters, 5 sons, 11 grandsons and daughters.

President Iajuddin Ahmed yesterday condoled the death of Prof Kamal Uddin.

In a message of condolence, he said Prof Kamal Uddin had a great contribution for the expansion of higher education in the country.

He conveyed deep sympathy to the members of the bereaved family and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
