WFWP marks 10th founding anniversary
Speaking as the main speaker at the discussion, Vice-Chancellor of South East University Prof M Shamsher Ali said there are some preconceived notions, both at home and abroad, that women should perform only household work.
"But that is not true, there is no such work that women cannot do," he added.
Shamsher said women should be empowered through education.
He urged the federation to work for the welfare of rural women who constitute 67 percent of total agricultural labour force but are not paid for their contribution to the society.
Federation President Zinat Ara Bhuiyan presented crests to seven women for their contribution to the society.
