Tk 203 cr SCC budget announced: No new tax imposed

Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) yesterday announced a Tk 203 crore budget for 2004-05 fiscal without imposing any new tax.

Mayor Badar Uddin Ahmed Kamran placed the budget at a press conference at the corporation auditorium.

The budget shows a total earning of Tk 203 crore 35 lakh and 95 thousand.

The education sector received an allocation of Tk 14 crore and the health sector Tk 3.91 crore.

Tk 24.14 crore has been earmarked for development activities such as construction of roads, bridges, culverts, drains, bus terminal and park.

Besides, Tk 70 crore has been allocated for projects under Annual Development Programme (ADP).

Addressing the press conference, Mayor Kamran sought coopeartion from all in running the corporation smoothly.

He assured that the city corporation would be kept above all political influence.

The mayor said massive development activities are needed as the city corporation area is being expanded.

He also sought cooperation from Finance Minister M Saifur Rahman and LGRD Minister Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan in carrying out the development programmes.

Ward Commissioners were also present at the press conference.
