Expelled Workers Party leaders to hold congress soon

Five expelled central leaders of the Workers Party of Bangladesh (WPB) yesterday said they would soon convene a congress to reorganise the party to uphold its ideology.

"The move by the politburo and central committee leaders to oust five of us is not consistent with the party constitution as the WPB leadership have deviated from the party's ideology," said Saiful Haq, an ousted leader, at a press conference in the city yesterday.

"We will be forced to take legal action if the depraved leadership keep making efforts to tarnish our political image, instead of dealing with an organisational feud politically," he said while reading out a written statement.

The five leaders organised the press conference under the banner of the Workers Party.

Three other ousted leaders Khondakar Ali Abbas, Paresh Chandra Saha and Nasiruddin Ahmed Nasu were present at the press conference.
