Committee to develop tourism formed

Deputy Commissioners will head the committee. Senior officials of different departments such as police, roads and highways, zila parishad, water development board, power, environment and forest, UNO, UP chairman and owners of hotel and resorts will be member of the committee.

It was decided at an inter-ministerial meeting on Wednesday with State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Mir Mohammad Nasiruddin in the chair.

LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan, State Minister for Land Ukil Abdus Sattar, State Minister for Environment and Forest Jafrul Islam Chowdhury and high officials from the ministries of Finance, Communications, Home and Energy attended the meeting.

The committee will ensure security, discipline and facilities of the tourists and above all maintain overall development and management. Steps will be taken to supply electricity in the tourist spots.

The committee has been asked to find out suitable places for building exclusive zones for the foreign tourists.

It will recommend the higher authorities for expansion, beautification and carrying out other development works to attract tourists. The committee has also been asked to recommend for development of communications infrastructure in the tourist zones.
