BSF, BDR trade fire along Panchagarh border

BSS, Boda
Border Security Forces (BSF) of India and Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) exchanged fire along the Boda border of the Panhagarh district yesterday morning.

The incident occurred when BSF troops fired at BDR jawans over construction of a road within only 125 metres of the zero line, official sources said.

BSF troops of the Daikhata Camp gathered dozens of Indian labourers within 125 metres from the zero line near an international boundary pillar opposite to the Danakata BOP of BDR on Wednesday afternoon.

BDR jawans hoisted red flags along the border signalling its maximum protest against the BSF decision.

But, BSF troops fired at BDR jawans ignoring the protest.

The BDR also returned the fire and Indian labourers fled the scene.

A tense situation was prevailing there, the sources said.

No side can construct any structure within 150 yards of the zero line according to the Indo-Bangla joint border guideline of 1975.
