A youth was gunned down at Mohammadpur and a trader mugged at Khilgaon yesterday while an unidentified body was recovered at Badda in the city on Wednesday night.

Mohammad Shipon Hossain, 25, was walking in front of their house at Shekhertek Pisciculture Housing when a gang of four opened fire at him from point blank at 11:00am, said Abul Kalam, a tenant of the locality.

On receiving six bullets under his left ear and eye, he died on the way to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

The killing might be a sequel to warning that the victim's father gave to some local goons, said one Abdul Mannan.

Mohammadpur police acknowledged the incident but could not give any details.

In another incident at Khilgaon, Mohammad Mizan, 18, a fish trader, was returning home from Ulan at Rampura when a gang of muggers intercepted him at 8:30am.

As he refused to pay, the muggers shot two rounds in his knee and thigh and snatched Tk 7,000 from him.

Mizan was rushed to the DMCH where he was undergoing treatment.

Police arrested one alleged mugger Khokon, 25, from the locality in this connection.

In Badda, the body of an unidentified youth, 27, was recovered by police from Comillapara at 9:00pm on Wednesday.
