Four killed in road accidents

Our correspondent in Satkhira reports: Two college students were killed and two others injured in a road accident on Kaliganj-Munshiganj road near at Bongshipur Bazar in Shyamnagar upazila yesterday afternoon.

Rezaul Islam, 20, and Abdul Majid, 21, students of Shyamnagar Mohsin College, died on the spot when a speeding truck hit a rickshaw van in which they were travelling, witnesses said.

The truck sped away soon after the incident.

The injured, one of them is Azmol, 30, were rushed to Shyamnagar Health Complex and later shifted to Islamia Hospital in Satkhira.

Our correspondent in Magura adds: Two people were killed and 15 others injured in a road accident at Bogia on Magura-Mohammadpur Highway.

Sources said an inter-district coach suddenly veered off the road and fell into a roadside ditch as the driver lost control over the steering, killing Hasina Begum, 35, and Binod Kumar, 40.

Twelve of the injured were rushed to Magura Sadar Hospital.
