Language workshop begins at DU
With the assistance of American National Science Foundation, the anthropology department and linguistic department have organised the workshop to help preserve the languages of the ethnic minorities.
Eminent US Linguist Dr David Peterson is the chief instructor of the workshop while Hasan Al Shafi of anthropology department is working as co-ordinator.
The main purpose of the workshop is to train up the participating students about the technique of language documentation and enhance their skill in this field.
The overall supervision of the workshop is being done by Chairman of anthropology Prof Zahidul Haque, Chairman of linguistic Dr Zinat Imtiaz Ali, Assistant Professor Shikder Monwar Morshed, Lecturer Rashid Mahmud and Lecturer Bakhtiar Ahmed of Rajshahi University.
A number of selected students from anthropology and linguistic departments are taking part at the workshop.
