Widow cries for justice
Addressing a press conference at the National Press Club, Jamita Begum alleged that the killers are giving her death threats and pressurising her to withdraw the case she filed for the murder.
Jamita, a resident of Ghagra village under Mithamoin upazila, said a gang of locals including Tota Munshi and Shahjahan attacked her husband Iran Sheikh over a feud between her children and others and dumped his body beside a canal in the locality after beating him severely.
The criminals also injured her daughter Moni, Toran, brother-in-laws Mahbub and Shafiq when they reached the scene on hearing the attack.
Doctors declared Iran dead when he was rushed to Mithamoin hospital.
Jamita filed a case with Mithamoin Police Station accusing Sher Jahan Momen, Shah Jahan Momen, Mir Jahan Momen, Tota Munshi, Ashraf, Khokon and Komol on the same day.
She said the accused are roaming in the locality and threatening to oust her from home.
She sought help from local police and administration but in vain.
"I have no earning to live with my six children aged between one and a half months and 12 years," she said, adding, "I want justice."
