New scholarship fund at DU

A total of ten poor but meritorious students will be given scholarships from this fund every year.

The fund was set up in memory of late Golam Ahmed Khan, who was a student of the department from 1940 to 1944. He obtained second class first position in BA examination in 1943 and got first class in the MA examination in 1944. He was also awarded Louise Silver Medal for journalism in 1942.

The wife of GA Khan handed over a cheque for Tk 5 lakh to Vice-Chancellor Prof. SMA Faiz at his office yesterday to institute the scholarship fund.

Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof. AFM Yusuf Haider, Dean of arts faculty and Chairman of the English department Prof. Sadrul Amin and the donor's son Basher Ahmed Khan and daughters Dr Nazma Kabir and Sabrina Islam were also present.
