Two get death for murder

The convicts are Kurush and Wasiur Rahman.

Tribunal Judge Shah-E-Alam Chowdhury gave the verdict at a crowded courtroom on Wednesday afternoon.

The court also awarded life term to ten others in the same case.

They are Suruj, Mukul, Madhu, Abdus Salam alias Hailla, Aklu Miah, Rian, Jainul, Hafizur, Shafinur and Hiron.

They were also fined Tk 10,000 each.

Other accused were acquitted of charges brought against them due to lack of sufficient evidences.

According to prosecution, Khairur Rahman, son of Abdul Ahad of village Kadupur under Baniachang upazila of Habiganj district came under the attack of the assailants as a sequel to previous enmity on April 2, 2001.

The attackers hit him with a locally made sharp weapon called- Pikol. The victim died on the spot.

After investigation, police pressed charges against 36 people.
