Dhaka re-elected member of 3 Ecosoc bodies
Bangladesh was re-elected member of three subsidiary bodies of Economic and Social Council (Ecosoc) for a four-year term (2005-08) at its organisational session in New York on Tuesday.
The subsidiary bodies are Commission for Population and Development, Commission for Social Development and UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT), says a foreign ministry press release yesterday.
Bangladesh's re-election to these important UN bodies was in recognition by the international community of her active role in economic and social sectors.
