3 DU students held for teasing female student
The students are Tarek Billah, a second year student of Islamic history, Kazi Habibur Rahman, a first year student of the same department, and Sabuj Kumar Biswas, a second year student of philosophy.
However, they were released in the early hours of yesterday after they signed a promise not to commit such offence in future.
Sources said the three claiming themselves as activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) teased a female student who was sitting at Battola near the Arts building with her boyfriend.
They asked her whether she was a DU student and wanted to see her identity card.
They also misbehaved with her as she declined to show the identity card, sources added.
However, police along with some JCD leaders soon appeared on the scene and arrested the three after the female student called a former Dhaka University Central Students Union leader, who is a relative of her and also a BNP leader, over her cell phone.
