Mostafa Sarwar passes away

Awami League leader and language movement veteran Mostafa Sarwar died at a Bangkok hospital yesterday at the age of 69.

Mostafa Sarwar was cultural secretary of the then East Pakistan Awami League and president of Narayanganj district Bangladesh Awami League.

Leader of the Opposition in Parliament and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock at the death of Mostafa Sarwar, one of the organisers of the liberation war.

"We have lost a dedicated and patriotic politician at the death of Mostafa Sarwar. His death is an irreparable loss for the nation," she said in a condolence massage.

Hasina prayed for salvation of the departed soul and conveyed sympathy to his bereaved family members.
