Ganit Utsav held in Barisal

Bangladesh Ganit Olympiad Committee, in association with the Dutch-Bangla Bank and the Prothom Alo, organised the festival.

A total of 997 participants from different colleges, schools and madrassahs took part in the festival in four age-groups.

Sixty teams including nine from college, 35 from school and two from madrassah participated in team events while about eight hundred participants took part in individual events.

Barisal Zila School Headmaster Namita Sarkhel inaugurated the festival at 9:30am.

Vice-Chancellor of Patuakhali Science and Technology University Prof Dr Abdul Latif Masum, writer and mathematicians Dr Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, Bangladesh Mathematics Olympiad Secretary Munir Hassan, Coordinator of Barisal divisional

mathematics festival Toufiq Maruf, Dr Gouranga Devnath and Hasnain Parvez addressed the inauguration function.

The daylong festival included math-drill, spot quiz, book fair, math-booth and group discussions.
