Govt to separate judiciary from executive: Moudud
The government has taken various steps to formulate laws and for their reforms, which is unprecedented in the 32 years of country's history, he said at a conference of the representatives of Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya Parishad in the city.
"Tk 500 crore unpaid loans were recovered over the last eight months by reforming the law of Artha Rin Adalat (money recovery law). But it was not possible during the last 10 years," he said.
Referring to the reform of the 'Civil Procedure Code', Moudud said the Awami League government could not bring any change to this law during their tenure.
On the formation of Speedy Trial Tribunal Act, he said the offenders are brought to book quickly which is being appreciated by foreign governments.
"We have also formed an independent Anti-corruption Commission to establish a corruption-free society", he said.
"To protect the dignity of the Supreme Court, experienced judges are required and the government has raised the service age of the Supreme Court Judges by two years," he also said.
Communications Minister Nazmul Huda presided over the conference. Posts and Telecommunications Minister M Aminul Haque, State Minister for Law M Shahjahan Omar Bir Uttam, former speaker Sheikh Razzak Ali and Sigma Huda also spoke.
