Hats, bazars tolls

Tk 160cr earned last year

The revenue income from the tolls of hats and bazars in just concluded Bangla year 1410 has increased 43 percent to Tk 160 crore.

The revenue income from the tolls of hats and bazars in 1409 stood at Tk 81 crore.

This was revealed at a meeting of the local government ministry that considered changes in Izara policy of hats and bazars and distribution of the revenue income among the local government institutions.

LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Abdul Mannan Bhuiya presided.

The meeting decided that four percent of the income would be allocated in favour of the Muktijoddha Sangsad. Earlier, one hat-bazar in each district was given to the sangsad.

The meeting further decided that in case the system of giving izara through tender does not help increase revenue income, tolls will be collected under the government management.

A seven-member committee headed by UNO for ordinary hats and bazars and a nine-member committee headed chief executive officer in case of City Corporation/Pourasava hats and bazars will be formed for collection of tolls.

State Minister Ziaul Haq Zia and senior officials were present at the meeting.
