RU VC urged to call senate meeting soon

They said no senate meeting was held in last two and a half year which is a violation of the University Act 1973.

In a memorandum to VC Prof. Faisul Islam Faruki on Sunday, the senators also called for the review of recent appointment of third and fourth class employees of the university.

They said most of the appointments were made under political consideration without any advertisement and proper interview.

The senators demanded immediate cancellation of the appointment and save the university from politicisation.

They also called for immediate VC panel election which was held last in 2001.

The senators include Prof. Sohrab Ali, Prof. Abdul Latif, Prof. Khalequzzaman, Prof. Mizan Uddin, Prof. Ansar Uddin, Prof. Sayen Uddin, Prof. Sheikh Nurullah and Prof. Zahid Hossain.
