Absconding convict held in Sylhet
A notorious cadre of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, who had been at large after being awarded five years rigorous imprisonment (RI), was arrested by the police on Wednesday night.
Nahidul Islam Nahid alias Kala Nahid was awarded five years RI by the magistrate of the Speedy Trial Tribunal in a mugging case a few months ago.
Being tipped-off, a police party from Sylhet Kotwali Police Station headed by Sub-Inspector Fazlul Haque Shibli arrested him along with his two accomplices from a city hotel at about 11:30pm.
The other arrestees are Zakaria and Ripon.
Police said they are also involved in mugging and extortion.
