Killers of Jubo Dal leader yet to be arrested

Police are yet to arrest the killers of a Jubo Dal ward unit leader who was murdered inside a hotel room at Mugda in Sabujbagh on Wednesday.

Jahangir Hossain, 32, vice-president of Jubo Dal 29 ward unit, was chopped to death inside the room of hotel Jamini at 9:35pm.

Jahangir, also a land broker, was having a meeting with a gang of miscreants in room no 301 of the hotel. At one stage of the meeting, they chopped him in the head, said the police.

Najma Akter, wife of the victim, filed a case with Sabujbagh Police Station accusing eight persons including Hamid Uddin Ujjal, Sagar, Rahim, Ramzan and Jamal.

In a first hand information (FIR), Najma said her husband was killed following a dispute over a piece of land. Lion called him out of the house assuring him to settle the dispute. He was hacked to death inside the hotel room.

Police said they carried manhunt in probable places but yet to net them.

They also questioned hotelier Abdul Jabber and manager Abu Hasan Babu.

Meanwhile, the body of the victim was taken back home from Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue after the autopsy.

He was buried at Mugdapara graveyard after Johr prayers yesterday.
