Raowa Ladies Meena Bazar opens

About 70 stalls have showcased various commodities in the fair organised by the Ladies and Children Affairs Sub-Committee of the Retired Armed Forces Officers' Welfare Association (Raowa).
The added attractions for the visitors are raffle prizes, including air tickets, sponsored by GMG Airlines and Arkoo Masala. Entrance fee is Tk 10 per person.
The proceeds will be used to help the victims of natural disasters such as cyclone and floods, said the organisers.
They said they have charged each stall owners Tk 3,000 for three days. However, there will be no extra charges if the fair is extended.
Women's attire was the most common item found in the stalls. Be it local or foreign-made, shimmering colours of salwar kameez and saris attracted almost every woman coming to the fair.
"I am just planning to buy that embroidered Pakistani set," Tamanna Rahman, a college student, said pointing at a salwar kameez hanging in the stall of Femina fashion.
Bed covers, pillow cases, table cloths and home decorating items of terracotta, plastic and wrought iron are also on display.
Novo cargo, a Thai fruit stall, drew many customers by selling 500 grams of sweet tamarind for Tk 150.
There are also a good number of food stalls offering different cuisine.
"People really enjoy food when they come to a fair," said Shawon Ahmed of Khushboo resturant.
Besides, participation in a fair also helps spread the brand name, he added.
