Later, they submitted a memorandum to the chief traffic manager threatening to go for a 24-hour rail blockade on March 31 if their six-point demand are not met by March 30.
The demands include formation of railway board, separate pay commission and budget allocation for the renovation of rail routes.
Under the banner of Railway Sramik Karmachari Sangram Parishad, they squatted in front of the bhaban for six hours demanding "immediate" implementation of an agreement signed in this regard.
The government plans to release two express trains- Mohanagar Probhati and Turna Nishitha - introduced on Dhaka-Chittagong route in 1985-86 for private management.
But the railway authorities signed the agreement with the workers-employees for reversal of the move amid protest by them in last November.
The communications minister had initiated the rapprochement move.
