Indian sarees worth Tk 40 lakh seized

Tipped off that a truck (Dhaka Metro Ta-11-7284) was carrying smuggled sarees under rice husk from Comilla, customs intelligence men ambushed the truck in front of the High Court in the early hours.

Sensing their presence, the trucker turned back the truck and entered Bangabazar.

The customs men went there and seized the truck.

The trucker and his helper managed to escape.

Customs men took the truck to their office and found 3,800 pieces of cotton and synthetic Indian sarees in 30 bales.
