Ties with Bangladesh excellent
Indian envoy tells Hasina
New Indian High Commissioner Veena Sikri yesterday made a courtesy call on Leader of the Opposition in Parliament and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina at her Dhanmondi residence.
They exchanged views on bilateral matters particularly trade and economic cooperation between Dhaka and New Delhi.
The Indian high commissioner viewed the bilateral relations excellent and hoped that it would further strengthen during her tenure in Bangladesh.
Hasina stressed on increasing trade and commerce for mutual benefit of the two countries. She also recalled India's great contribution to Bangladesh's War of Liberation in 1971.
Indian Deputy High Commissioner Dilip Sinha, Kazi Zafrullah MP, Syed Abul Hossain MP, former Ambassador Ziauddin and Press Advisor Jawadul Karim were present.
