Freedom fighter Moyenuddin passes away

Advocate Moyenuddin Ahmed Manik, a former MP and freedom fighter, died of a cardiac arrest at his residence here yesterday at 55.

He was the secretary general of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad, Central Command Council (welfare and rehabilitation) and vice-president of the Jatiyatabadi Muktijoddha Dal.

He was also a leader of the Jatiyatabadi Samajtantrik Dal and social worker.

Manik is survived by his wife and two daughters.

BSS adds: Prime Minister Khaleda Zia expressed her deep shock at his death.

His death is an irreparable loss to the country as well as to the nation, she said in a condolence message and recalled the contribution of Manik to the War of Liberation.

Minister for Environment and Forest Shajahan Siraj and State Minister for Liberation War Affairs Prof. Rezaul Karim also expressed condolence at the death of valiant freedom fighter.
