BCL anniversary celebrated

Bangladesh Chhatra League, student wing of the Awami League, took out a colourful procession on the Dhaka University campus yesterday to celebrate its 56th founding anniversary. PHOTO: STAR

BCL leaders placed wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Dhanmondi in the city at 9.00am.

The party flag was hoisted by Awami League Joint Secretary and former BCL president Obaidul Kader, BCL President Liakat Shikder and General Secretary Nazrul Islam Babu in front of the arts building of Dhaka University.

A colorful rally was also held there to mark the occasion.

Addressing the rally, Obaidul Kader said the BCL has been playing a vital role in every democratic movement of the country.

Liakat Shikder said the coalition government is trying to destroy the BCL through repression on its leaders and workers.

Nazrul Islam thanked the workers to observe the founding anniversary in a befitting manner.

A representative of BCL central committee placed wreath at the mazar of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Tungipara in Gopalganj.
