'Ban commercial use of playgrounds'

They also called for proper maintenance of the playgrounds for healthy development of the children.

The rally was organised by Dhanmondi Paribesh Unnayan Jote in association with Bangladesh Paribesh Andolon (BAPA) and the Institute of Architects, Bangladesh (IAB) at the western side of Dhanmondi playground.

The speakers said the children are being deprived of acquiring physical and social skills through sports and games due to lack of adequate number of playgrounds.

Moreover, these playgrounds are often used by different organisations for commercial purposes like holding of fair which resulted in juvenile delinquencies in multifarious forms, they added.

The rally was addressed by Prof Serajul Islam Chowdhury, Prof Muzaffar Ahmed, Dramatist Mamunur Rashid, BAPA General Secretary Abu Naser Khan and Coordinator of Bishwasahitya Kendra Golam Kibria.
