Govt not allowing people to speak against misrule
"The persons wanting to speak against its misrule and repression were killed," Hasina said citing the killing of Khulna city AL president Monzurul Imam as an example.
The government does not even allow the opposition party to speak in parliament, alleged the leader of the opposition in her speech at a discussion meeting, organised by Bangladesh Krishak League marking the 28th death anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Hasina also accused the leader of the House of preventing her from speaking in parliament.
She alleged that the coalition government put the percentage of votes cast in Netrakona by-elections at more than 60, while the turnout was only 20 to 30 per cent.
The AL handed over power, Hasina claimed, leaving 2.70 crore tonnes of grains in surplus. But the coalition government ruined all achievements in the agricultural sector in 22 months since October 2001, she alleged.
Hasina also accused Motiur Rahman Nizami, the first agriculture minister in the coalition government, of destroying the agriculture sector and branded him as one from the anti-liberation forces.
Awami League leaders Abdul Jalil, Tofail Ahmed and Rahmat Ali, Professor Shamsul Huda Harun and agriculturist Abdul Mannan, among others, addressed the meeting chaired by Krishak League President Mirza Abdul Jalil.
