Jubo League leader slain

Witnesses said victim Jalal Uddin Sarker, 30, president of Kapasia Jubo League unit, was with his three friends while seven men led by the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal leaders Al-Amin and Farooq encircled them at about 4:10pm. They chopped Jalal with sharp weapons. He died on the spot.

The body of Jalal was sent to Gazipur Sadar Hospital.

Locals said Jalal was killed as he was engaged in reorganising the Jubo League, main opposition Awami League's youth front, in the area.

Meanwhile, Jubo League has called a half-day hartal at Kapasia today, protesting the killing.
