JU syndicate members kept hostage, asked to withdraw expulsion order of JCD men

The JU unit of the ruling BNP's student wing also demanded removal of provost of Shaheed Salam Barkat (SSB) Hall and the JU Central Auditorium be named after Ziaur Rahman.

The JCD activists besieged to the Administrative Building at 4:00pm while the JU Syndicate meeting was on inside. They took position in front of the Council Room at 6:15pm and continued chanting slogans.

Vice-chancellor Prof Jasim Uddin Ahmad and three senior teachers came out of the meeting and sat for an hour-long negotiation with the JCD. The JCD activists agreed to put off their siege when the VC assured them that their issue would be raised at the next syndicate meet.
