BNP cadres attack Star lens man in Ctg
Zobaer went to the Court of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Chittagong to take snaps of seven people, including BNP leader Shah Alam, arrested in connection with the murder of business magnate Rezaur Rahman Zakir. Police produced them before the court seeking to remand them.
The photographer came under attack by the cadres loyal to Shah Alam as soon as he started taking snaps of the seven people when they got down from a police van on the court premises. The cadres obstructed him from doing his duty, dragged him away and beat him indiscriminately.
Lawyers from a nearby tea stall rushed to the spot and rescued Zobaer.
Meanwhile, the Chittagong Union of Journalists (CUJ) and the Chittagong Press Club (CPC) in a joint statement condemned the attack on the photographer and demanded stern action against those responsible.
CUJ President Mostak Ahmad, General Secretary Shahid Ul Alam and CPC President Abu Sufian and General Secretary Kalim Sarwar issued the joint statement.
