Hasina reaffirms supports for agitating lawyers

"The BNP-Jamaat alliance government has been politicising all sectors and interfering in the judiciary... when the lawyers are agitating for their just demands, the ministers are threatening them," she said.

Hasina was addressing the newly elected office-bearers of Gazipur Bar Association who met her at the Dhanmondi office of the Awami League in the afternoon.

Later, the leaders of 10 associations of teachers and employees under the banner of the Jatiya Shikkhak Karmachari Front met the opposition leader and submitted a memorandum.

Addressing the lawyers and teachers separately, Hasina alleged that the prime minister and her son had let loose terrorists and party cadres on the Dhaka University campus to create instability in the educational arena.

"Every day, common students fall victim of torture in the hands of the student cadres of her Chhatra Dal. They roughed up students late in the night. When Awami League's student front, Chhatra League, protested, the Chhatra Dal cadres also attacked them," she said.
